Procedure
To a solution of Compound 26a (200 mg, 0.40 mmol) in THF (5 mL) at 0° C. was added LiBH4 solution (2.0 M in THF) (0.3 mL) dropwise. The reaction mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 0.5 h, then warmed to room temperature over 2 h. The resultant mixture was diluted with water. The mixture was extracted with EtOAc (3×), and the organic phases were combined, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the crude material. The crude material was purified by flash column chromatography (SiO2), eluting with a heptane-EtOAc gradient to afford Compound 26b (71.5 mg; 35% yield). 1H-NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ 9.00 (s, 1H), 8.43 (s, 1H), 8.39 (s, 1H), 7.80-7.94 (m, 1H), 7.13-7.16 (m, 2H), 6.91-6.94 (m, 2H), 5.83 (br. s, 0.6H), 5.06 (br. s, 0.4H), 4.71 (s, 2H), 4.18-4.26 (m, 1H), 3.84 (s, 3H), 3.86 (br. s, 0.6H), 3.50 (br. s, 0.4H), 3.37-3.40 (m, 2H), 3.15-3.20 (m, 2H), 2.06-2.15 (m, 1H), 1.90-1.98 (m, 2H), 1.77-1.86 (m, 1H), 1.43-1.49 (m, 9H); MS: m/z 508.2 (M+H)+.
