4-(5-fluoro-1H-indole-2-carbonyl)-4-propyl-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester 162 mg was dissolved in 1 M methanolic HCl and stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. The solvent was removed to afford an oil which was precipitated from diethyl ether to give (5-fluoro-1H-indol-2-yl)-(4-propyl-piperidin-4-yl)-methanone; hydrochloride 132 mg as a solid in 97% yield, MS=289 [M+H]+.
