tert-Butyl 4-(1,3-dioxoisoindolin-2-yloxy)piperidine-1-carboxylate (3.81 g, 11.0 mmol) was added to trifluoroacetic acid (80 ml) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. The reaction was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was triturated with diethyl ether (100 ml). The resulting solid was washed with diethyl ether (20 ml×3) to give 2-(piperidin-4-yloxy)isoindoline-1,3-dione trifluoroacetic acid (3.50 g, 90%) as a white solid: LCMS: 247 [M+1]+.
