Hydrazine monohydrate (250 mg, 4.24 mmol) was added to a solution of 2-(1-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenylsulfonyl)piperidin-4-yloxy)isoindoline-1,3-dione (1.02 g, 2.24 mmol) in ethanol (10 ml) and stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. The resulting solid was filtered off and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was triturated with diethyl ether (30 ml), and the resulting solid was filtered off again and concentrated in vacuo to give O-(1-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenylsulfonyl)piperidin-4-yl)hydroxylamine (720 mg, 94%) as a white solid: LCMS: 343 [M+1]+.
