A mixture of 1-amino7-bromo[1]benzothieno[3,2-c]pyridine-4-carboxamide (Example 12, Step 10), 3-trifluoromethylboronic acid (1.5 equiv), PdCl2dppf (0.1 equiv), Na2CO3 1 M (3.0 equiv) in DMF (0.15 M) was heated in the microwave reactor at 120° C. for 10 min. The reaction mixture was partitioned between EtOAc and H2O with the addition of DMSO. The organic phase was separated, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, evaporated and purified by flash chromatography (10% MeOH in CH2Cl2) to provide the title compound.
