Reaction Steps
A solution of 1-[(4-methoxybenzyl)amino]-7-(trifluoromethyl)[1]benzothieno[3,2-c]pyridine-4-carbonitrile in conc. H2SO4 (0.1 M) was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The mixture was poured into H2O, neutralized with KOH and K3PO4 solution to pH 9. The solid was filtered then swished with boiling H2O to give the title compound.
