Ethyl 2-(1-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolin-7-yl)-5-(3-chloropropyl)thiazole-4-carboxylate (23F) (0.943 g, 2.02 mmol) was dissolved in Acetonitrile (10 mL). To this reaction mixture was added NaI (0.309 g, 2.06 mmol) and heated to 80° C. The reaction was stirred for 48 hours. The reaction was filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude material was dissolved in EtOAc, washed with water, brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to provide 0.370 g (97%) of the desired product ethyl 2-(1-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolin-7-yl)-5-(3-iodopropyl)thiazole-4-carboxylate (23G): LC/MS (APCI): m/z 557.2 (M+H).
