Procedure
Following the amide coupling procedure described in protocol A, 500 mg 6-hydroxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethylchroman-2-carboxylic acid (2.0 mmol), 356 mg CDI (2.2 mmol) and 548 mg tyramine (4.0 mmol) produced 537.8 mg of 6-hydroxy-N-(4-hydroxyphenethyl)-2,5,7,8-tetramethylchroman-2-carboxamide as a brown solid.
