To a suspension of 1-(3-nitro-2-pyridyl)-3-heptylurea (1.00 g) in ethanol (10 ml) was added a catalytic amount of 10% palladium/carbon to perform catalytic reduction under 1-2.5 atms at room temperature for 5 hrs. After filtering the catalyst and distilling off the solvent, the crystallization of the residue from hexane afforded 1-(3-amino-2-pyridyl)-3-heptylurea (0.89 g, 99%).
