Procedure
5-Methoxy-2-methyl-1-[(3-pyridyl)methyl]-1H-indole-3-acetic acid hydrazide. Using the method described in Example 1, Part G, 340 mg (1.0 mmol) of 5-methoxy-2-methyl-1-[(3-pyridyl)methyl]-1H-indole-3-acetic acid ethyl ester was reacted with 1.0 mL of hydrazine to give on crystallization from MeOH 54 mg (17% yield) of 5-methoxy-2-methyl-1-[(3-pyridyl)methyl]-1H-indole-3-acetic acid hydrazide, mp 153°-154.5° C.
