Procedure

A solution of 21 of chloroacetyl chloride in 10 ml of toluene is added dropwise to 31 g of 1,2,3-trimethyl-1,4,9,10-tetrahydropyrrolo[3,2-b][1,5-]benzodiazepin-10-one, 6 g of anhydrous potassium carbonate, 40 ml of dioxane and 20 ml of toluene in the course of 30 minutes at 70° to 80° C., and the thus-prepared mixture is stirred at this temperature for a further 2 hours. The mixture is concentrated to dryness, the residue is boiled 3 times with 25 ml of chloroform each time, and the filtrate is concentrated to dryness. 3.6 g of the title compound are thus obtained.
