Reaction Steps
A solution of 1.84 g of 1-(benzyloxy)-2-[(2-chloro-5-methoxyphenyl)imino]imidazolidine in 10 ml of ethanol and 0.65 ml of 25 percent hydrochloric acid is hydrogenated over palladium/carbon. The catalyst is subsequently removed by filtration and the solution obtained is evaporated in vacuo. There is obtained 2-[(2-chloro-5-methoxyphenyl)imino]-1-hydroxyimidazolidine hydrochloride of melting point 182°-184° (acetone).
