Procedure

22.5 g of 1-(benzyloxy)-2-[(o-tolyl)-imino]imidazolidine are heated at 150° for 30 minutes with 150 ml of 48 percent hydrobromic acid. The mixture is evaporated in vacuo. From the residue there is obtained 1-hydroxy-2-(o-tolylimino)imidazolidine hydrobromide of melting point 176°-187° (acetone).
