Procedure
n-Dodecyl thiouronium chloride (8.0 g), phenylphosphonic acid (10 g), and 200 ml of 50/50 (v/v) ethanol/water mixture were heated overnight and then cooled. After filtering and recrystallizing from water-methanol-ethanol, approximately 11.1 g of n-dodecyl thiouronium phenyl phosphonate was isolated (m.p. 154°-156° C.). Chemical analysis and infrared spectra confirmed n-dodecyl thiouronium phenylphosphonate formation.
