Reaction Steps
Using the procedure of Example 24, the chromanone ester from Example 39 was saponified with lithium hydroxide in tetrahydrofuran-water giving rac.-[[2-[4-(4-acetyl-3-hydroxy-2-propylphenoxy)butyl]-3,4-dihydro-2-methyl-4-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-7-yl]oxy]acetic acid in 97.9% yield, as a viscous, amber oil.
