Procedure
Butyl isothiocyanate (11.5 g, 10 mmol) is added dropwise to glycine ethyl ester hydrochloride (13.95 g, 10 mmol) and Et3N (11.1 g, 11 mmol) in EtOH (20 ml) at 0° C. After the addition is completed, the reaction is allowed to warm to room temperature. Stirring is continued overnight at room temperature. The solvent is removed in vacuo and the residue is partitioned between CHCl3 (100 ml) and H2O (20 ml). The CHCl3 layer is dried (MgSO4) and evaporated off to give the title compound.
