Hydrochloric acid 4 M in dioxane (7.88 mL, 31.54 mmol) was added to rac-[1-(3-bromo-phenyl)-1-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-ethyl]-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (1.65 g, 4.51 mmol) at room temperature. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The solvent was evaporated in vacuo. The residue was suspended in DCM and washed with NaHCO3 (aq. sat. solution). The organic layer was separated, dried (MgSO4), filtered and the solvents evaporated in vacuo to yield rac-1-(3-bromo-phenyl)-1-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-ethylamine (1.2 g, 100% yield) as a white solid, which was used in the next step without further purification.
