Procedure

To 2-[(R)-5-(5-carbamoyl-pyrazin-2-yl)-indan-1-yl]-2,7-diaza-spiro[3.5]nonane-7-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (10-1b, 150 mg, 0.32 mmol) was added 5 mL of 4N HCl in dioxane. The mixture was stirred for 3 hours. The volatiles were removed under reduced pressure to give the title compound as a brown solid (65 mg, 45%). MS (APCI) 364.2 (M+H)+. 1H NMR (CD3OD) δ 2.20-2.24 (m, 4H), 2.63 (s, 1H), 3.15 (d, 4H), 3.29-3.38 (m, 3H), 4.25 (s, 3H), 4.48 (s, 1H), 5.10 (br s, 1H), 7.79 (d, 1H), 8.18 (d, 1H), 8.24 (s, 1H), 9.22 (s, 1H), 9.30 (s, 1H).
