The title compound was prepared from 8-chloro-3-ethyl-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-c]pyrazine (2.70 g, 14.8 mmol, from Step A) and platinum oxide (0.4 g) in 200 mL of methanol in a paar shaker under hydrogen (50 psi) for 14 hours. Filtration through Celite followed by concentration gave the title compound as a solid. 1H NMR (500 MHz, CD3OD) δ 1.36 (t, 3H, J=6.0 Hz), 2.84 (q, 2H, J=6.0 Hz), 3.70 (t, 2H, J=8.0 Hz), 4.28 (t, 2H, J=8.0 Hz). 4.06 (s, 2H). ESI-MS 153 (M+1).
