Procedure

Triphenylphosphine (196 mg) and carbon tetrabromide (247 mg) were added to a mixed solution of 3-(4-hydroxy-2-butynyl)-5-methyl-5-[4-(1-methylethoxy)phenyl]imidazolidine-2,4-dione (157 mg, 498 μmol) in dichloromethane (10 mL) at room temperature. After completion of the reaction, the solvent was evaporated, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane:ethyl acetate=1:1) to obtain 165 mg of the title compound (yield: 87%) as a colorless oil.
