Procedure

CF3CO2H (1 mL) was added to a solution of tert-butyl 2-oxo-3-tetrahydro-2H-thiopyran-4-yl-2,3-dihydro-1H-benzimidazole-1-carboxylate from Step A (210 mg, 0.628 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (3 mL). After 2 h, the mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound. MS: m/z=235 (M+1).
