A mixture of 2-chloro-8-fluoro-4-methyl-3-(4-pyrazol-1-ylbenzyl)quinolin-5-ol (0.26 g), cyclopropylboronic acid (0.12 g), caesium carbonate (0.92 g), dioxane (5.7 mL) and water (1.4 mL) was purged with argon, and then treated with [1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene]dichloropalladium (II) (0.058 g). The mixture was heated at 90° C. for 3 hours, cooled to room temperature, neutralised with saturated aqueous ammonium chloride solution and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×20 mL). The combined extracts were washed with saturated aqueous sodium chloride solution (5.0 mL), dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure. Purification of the residue by column chromatography on silica gel, eluting with a mixture of cyclohexane and ethyl acetate (1:0 to 3:2 by volume) gave title compound as a yellow oil (0.061 g).
