A mixture of 4-(8-(bromomethyl)-2-chloro-9-methyl-9H-purin-6-yl)morpholine (0.25 g, 0.72 mmol) and trimethylphosphite (4.0 mL, 34 mmol) was stirred at 120 degree for 1.25 hours. The resulting suspension was partitioned between water and dichloromethane. The aqueous layer was neutralized and extracted again with dichloromethane. The organic extracts were washed with water, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated. The crude product was purified by flash chromatography (0-5% methanol in DCM) to give the title compound (207 mg, 76%).
