To a solution of 3-(6-amino-5-benzothiazol-2-ylpyridin-3-yl)-benzoic acid methyl ester (0.980 g, 2.7 mmol) in dioxane/H2O (5:1, 30 mL) was added K2CO3 (1.5 g, 11 mmol), and the mixture was heated at 50° C. for 16 h. Evaporation of the solvents and neutralization with acetic acid gave a precipitate that was filtered off and dried in vacuo to give the title compound. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6, 300 MHz): δ=7.51-7.66 (m, 3H), 7.95-8.00 (m, 2H), 8.14-8.18 (m, 4H), 8.24 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 2H), 8.29 (d, J=1.8 Hz, 1H), 8.61 (d, J=2.1 Hz, 1H). MS(ES+): m/z=348.06 (100) [MH+]. HPLC: tR=3.42 min (polar—5 min, ZQ3).
