Di-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)methanone (1.073 g, 6.62 mmol) was added in small portions to a stirred solution of 2-methoxy-2-phenylacetic acid (1.047 g, 6.30 mmol) in dichloromethane (3 mL) at room temperature under argon. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The mixture was washed twice with water, dried over MgSO4 and concentrated yielding 1-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)-2-methoxy-2-phenylethanone (1.118 g, 82%).
