500 mg (1.99 mmol) of 5-bromo-3,3-dimethyl-4-oxo-pentanoic acid ethyl ester, 408.6 mg (1.99 mmol) of 4-trifluoromethyl-thiobenzamide and 403 mg (3.98 mmol) of triethylamine in 10 ml of toluene were stirred at 80° C. for 2 h. After evaporation, water and dichloromethane were added, the organic phase was separated, washed with water, dried, and evaporated. The product was purified by chromatography (silica gel, n-heptane/ethyl acetate 8:1). Yield: 498.5 mg.
