1.9 g (8.0 mmol) of 1-(2-aminoethyl)-4-(2-methoxyphenyl)piperazine were added to 2.4 g (7.8 mmol) of 2-ethoxymethyleneamino-3-carboethoxy-4-methyl-5-dimethylcarbamoylthiophene in 30 ml of ethanol, and the mixture was boiled at reflux for 2 h. After standing overnight, the product crystallized out and was filtered off with suction and washed with a little ethanol. 2.2 g (62%) of product, having a m.p. of 188-190° C., were isolated.
