Reaction Steps
To a solution of the product of STEP 1 (1.33 g) in EtOAc (40 mL), add 10% Pd/C (0.2 g) and hydrogenate overnight at 58 psi. Filter the catalyst and concentrate the reaction mixture to give ethyl 4-(2-phenylethyl)-cyclohexanecarboxylate (1.26 g).
