To a solution of 5-(3-bromo-1,2,4-thiadiazol-5-yl)-2-[(1-methylethyl)oxy]benzonitrile (D44) (550 mg), 2-ethyl-3-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)benzaldehyde (463 mg) and tripotassium phosphate (1080 mg) in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) (4 mL) and water (1.000 mL) stirred under nitrogen was added Pd(Ph3P)4 (196 mg). The reaction was sealed and heated under microwave at 120° C. for 15 min. After cooling, the reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate (20 mL), washed with water (2*8 mL), dried over sodium sulphate, concentrated and purified by column chromatography to afford 5-[3-(2-ethyl-3-formylphenyl)-1,2,4-thiadiazol-5-yl]-2-[(1-methylethyl)oxy]benzonitrile (D46) (420 mg) as a solid. MS (ES): C21H19N3O2S requires 377. found 378.0 (M+H+).
