To a solution of methyl 1-{[3-(5-{3-chloro-4-[(1-methylethyl)oxy]phenyl}-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)-2-ethylphenyl]methyl}-3-azetidinecarboxylate (2.78 g, 5.32 mmol) in Isopropanol (20.00 mL) and Water (10 mL) was added sodium hydroxide (0.638 g, 15.96 mmol). The mixture was stirred at rt for 51 mins. Stirring was stopped and the solution was concentrated under the reduced pressure. The residue was adjusted to pH value around 6 with HCl (1.0 M) solution, 1-(3-(5-(3-chloro-4-isopropoxyphenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)-2-ethylbenzyl)azetidine-3-carboxylic acid (2.33 g) was collected by filtering and dried in vacuum as yellow solid.
