A mixture of 2-chloro-8-fluoro-4-methyl-3-(4-pyrazol-1-ylbenzyl)quinolin-5-ol (0.22 g), 2-isopropenyl-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl[1,3,2]dioxaborolane (0.23 mL), potassium phosphate monohydrate (0.68 g) and N,N-dimethylformamide (3.0 mL) was purged with argon for 20 minutes, and then treated with [1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene]dichloropalladium (II) (0.048 g), and the mixture heated at 90° C. for 12 hours. The mixture was cooled to room temperature, filtered through Celite and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was diluted with saturated aqueous ammonium chloride solution (50 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×20 mL). The combined extracts were washed with water (5.0 mL) and saturated aqueous sodium chloride solution (5.0 mL), dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure. Purification of the residue by column chromatography on silica gel, eluting with a mixture of cyclohexane and ethyl acetate (1:0 to 1:1 by volume) gave title compound as a white solid (0.082 g).
