To a solution of 4-(acetyl-cyclopropyl-amino)-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.50 g, 1.8 mmol) in DCM (9 mL) was added 2 M HCl in diethyl ether (4.5 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred (30° C., 16 h). The mixture was concentrated to an orange solid and used without additional purification. MS (ESI): mass calcd. for C10H18N2O, 182.14; m/z found, 183.2 [M+H]+. 1H NMR (500 MHz, CD3OD): 4.07-3.95 (m, 1H), 3.48-3.40 (m, 2H), 3.11-2.98 (m, 2H), 2.77 (s, 1H), 2.49-2.36 (m, 2H), 2.22 (s, 3H), 1.97-1.89 (m, 2H), 1.00-0.94 (m, 2H), 0.90-0.82 (m, 2H).
