In a thoroughly heated flask, a solution of N-methylpiperazine (2.60 g, 2.88 ml, 26 mmol), 1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]decan-8-one (3.90 g, 25 mmol) and 1,2,3-triazole (1.87 g, 27 mmol) in toluene (25 ml) was heated for 6 h under reflux in a water separator.
