Procedure
Trifluoroacetic acid (10 ml) was added to a dichloromethane (10 ml) solution of the compound (560 mg, 1.32 mmol) obtained in Step 1 above and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The reaction solvent was concentrated under reduced pressure and then saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution (30 ml) was added, followed by extraction with chloroform three times. The organic layer was washed with saturated brine and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (380 mg, 89%) as a pale yellow solid.
