743 mg (2 eq.) of sodium azide are added at 20° to 2.07 g (5.72 mmol) of 7-bromo-5-bromomethyl-2,3-dimethoxyquinoxaline in 25 ml of dimethylformamide. After 3 hours, the mixture is poured into water, extracted with diethyl ether, and the extract is washed with water and brine and dried using magnesium sulfate. The solvent is evaporated.
