Procedure
Benzoyl chloride was synthesized by refluxing 5 ml of 2 M thionyl chloride in 10 ml of toluene with benzoic acid for 30 minutes. The residual thionyl chloride and toluene were removed by distillation. 2 gm of the 3-amino-propyl resin was then incubated at room temperature overnight with the fresh benzoyl chloride in pyridine. The next day, the resin was washed with methanol and dried.
