Reaction Steps
In the manner of step (c) of Example 1, 6-amino-1,3-bis(cyclobutylmethyl)uracil (from step (b), 5.75 g, 21.8 mmol) was converted to 6-amino-1,3-bis(cyclopentylmethyl)-5-nitrosouracil, isolated as purple flakes (5.60 g, 88%), m.p. 251°-252° C.; 1H-NMR (DMSO-d6) consistent with structure.
