In a manner similar to that described in Preparation 2, 3.1 g (20 mmol) of 3-methylbenzoylchloride, 2 g (7.4 mmol) of 2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-6-methoxybenzo[b]thiophene and 6.7 g (50 mmol) of AlCl3 were converted to 4.7 g of the title compound, isolated as yellow amorphous powder.
