To a stirred solution of (S)-1-tert-butyl 2-methyl 2,4,4-trimethylpyrrolidine-1,2-dicarboxylate 106D in CH2Cl2 (60 ml) was added TFA (10 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight and concentrated. The residue was used for the next step without purification.
