Procedure
The compound of step 10 (1.680 g, 2.80 mmol) was dissolved in 20 ml of dioxane and a 1 M aqueous solution of lithium hydroxide (4.30 ml, 4.30 mmol) was added. After stirring for 45 min at room temperature, the dioxane was evaporated under reduced pressure and 50 ml of water were added. The mixture was acidified to pH 2 with 5 N hydrochloric acid. The solid was filtered off, rinsed with water and dissolved in EA (100 ml). The solution was washed with water (50 ml) and brine (50 ml), dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure to give 1.64 g of the title compound which was directly used in the subsequent step.
