Methyl 2-(3,4,5-trifluorophenyl)piperidine-4-carboxylate hydrochloride (2.75 g, 8.88 mmol) was dissolved into DCM (50 mL), then DIPEA (3.88 mL, 22.20 mmol) was added. Methyl carbonochloridate (0.979 mL, 12.43 mmol) was added dropwise to the solution. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 h. The mixture was washed with HCl (0.1 M, 100 mL) and satd NaHCO3 (100 mL), then dried through a phase-separator and evaporated yielding dimethyl 2-(3,4,5-trifluorophenyl)piperidine-1,4-dicarboxylate (2.77 g, 94%) as an orange oil.
