Methyl 2-(2,4,5-trifluorophenyl)piperidine-4-carboxylate (2.232 g, 8.17 mmol) was dissolved in DCM (50 mL) and DIPEA (1.707 mL, 9.80 mmol), then methyl carbonochloridate (0.965 mL, 12.25 mmol) was added. The solution was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The reaction mixture was washed with 0.1 M HCl and satd NaHCO3, passed through a phase separator and evaporated to yield crude dimethyl 2-(2,4,5-trifluorophenyl)piperidine-1,4-dicarboxylate (2.971 g, quant.) as a brown oil. MS m/z 332 (M+H)+
