A mixture of ethyl 2-(4-((dimethylamino)methyl)phenyl)-3-(4-isopropylphenyl)-4-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-5-carboxylate (210 mg) in 85% hydrazine monohydrate (1 mL) and methanol (10 mL) was stirred at 23° C. for overnight. Methanol was removed under reduced pressure. The crude was purified by flash chromatography to give the title compound (72 mg, yield 37%). LC-MS (ESI) m/z: 439 (M+1)+. 1H-NMR (400 MHz, CD3OD) δ (ppm): 1.18 (d, 3H), 1.19 (d, 3H), 2.26 (s, 6H), 2.79-2.83 (m, 1H), 3.51 (d, 2H), 4.27 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 4.73 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 6.98-7.00 (m, 2H), 7.05-7.07 (m, 2H), 7.18-7.22 (m, 3H), 7.25-7.27 (m, 2H), 7.54-7.56 (m, 1H), 7.56-7.59 (m, 1H).
