Reaction Steps
N-Ethoxycarbonylphthalimide (100 g; 0.46 mol) was added to a mixture of trans-4-hydroxycyclohexylamine hydrochloride (69 g; 0.46 mol), potassium carbonate (158 g; 1.15 mol) and water (1 L) at room temperature. After stirring for 3 h the title compound (95 g) was isolated by filtration, washing with water then ethyl acetate.
