A solution of N-Boc 4-(6-cyano-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-indol-1-yl)-piperidine (D136, 400 mg, 1.172 mmol) in dichloromethane (5 mL) was treated with 4M HCl in dioxane (5 mL, 20.00 mmol). After 4 h at room temperature, evaporation and crystallisation from diethyl ether gave white crystals of 4-(6-cyano-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-indol-1-yl)-piperidine hydrochloride (270 mg, 0.972 mmol, 83% yield).
