To a stirred solution of cyclopropane carboxaldehyde (26.1 ml, 347 mmol) in DCM (347 ml) were added (S)-(−)-2-methyl-2-propanesulfinamide (21.0 g, 173 mmol), magnesium sulfate (104 g, 866 mmol), and PPTS (2.177 g, 8.66 mmol). The reaction mixture was left to stir overnight, filtered through a fritted funnel, concentrated, and purified by chromatography to provide the title compound as a colorless oil.
