To 490 mg (1.06 mmol) tert-butyl 2-(2-{[[(2,6-dimethoxybenzyl)amino](imino)methyl]amino}-1,3-thiazole-4-yl)pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate from Example 120 in 20 ml dioxane were added 5 ml 4N HCl in dioxane at room temperature and the mixture was stirred for 3 hours. Chromatography on RP-silica gel of the crude product obtained following concentration (Chromabond column, acetonitrile/water+0.1% glacial acetic acid; 0-100%) yielded 240 mg of the target product as a light colored solid; ESI-MS [M+H+]=362.15.
