Procedure

0.2 ml HBr (33% in glacial acetic acid) were added to 150 mg benzyl-2-{[[(2,6-dimethoxybenzyl)amino](imino)methyl]amino}-6,7-dihydro[1,3]thiazolo[5,4-c]pyridine-5(4H)-carboxylat (0.28 mmol) in 2 ml glacial acetic acid, and the mixture was stirred for 2 hours at room temperature. After reaction completion, the mixture was evaporation-concentrated, was filtered over C18 Chromabond (water/CH3CN+0.1% glacial acetic acid; 0-30%), and the free base was obtained by stirring with polymer-bound carbonate in methanol. 60 mg; ESI-MS [M+H+]=348.15.
