Procedure
To a solution of 340 mg of 13b in 3 ml of DMF was added in small portions 160 mg of N-bromosuccinimide. After stirring for an additional 15 minutes the reaction mixture was diluted with 3 ml of water and stirred for an additional 15 minutes. The precipitate was filtered and dried, to give 380 mg of 13c, as white crystalline material. Mp: 218-220° C. MS-ESI: [M+1] 495.06, 497.06, 499.08. NMR (CDCl3) δ 1.53 (s, 9, tertC4H9), 1.95 (m, 2, CH2), 2.71 (t, 2, CH2), 2.97 (t, 2, CH2), 3.38 (t, 2, CH2), 4.45 (t, 2, CH2) 6.77, 8.56 (2×s, 2, Ar—H).
