Procedure
A 100 mL round-bottomed flask was charged with (3S)-3-methyl-4-(4-(2,2,2-trifluoro-1-hydroxy-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethyl)phenyl)-1-piperazinecarboxylate (0.250 g, 0.565 mmol) and 10 mL of 4N HCl in dioxane. After 2 h at room temperature, the mixture was concentrated to give (S)-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-(4-(2-methylpiperazin-1-yl)phenyl)-2-propanol hydrochloride as a yellow foam (0.214 g) which was used without purification.
